Why Stay

Why stay in Wimbledon, for a luxury short let in London

Wimbledon — SW19 — is one of London's most overlooked prime postcodes. The Village sits on a small hill above the Common, with the high street's Georgian shopfronts running down to the Dog & Fox and All Saints' church. South of the Village, the streets between Parkside and the All England Club hold some of the largest detached mansions inside the M25. To the north, the Common itself — 1,140 acres of woodland, golf and riding tracks — gives the area its quiet, almost rural feel.

For a private mansion rental in London, Wimbledon offers something Knightsbridge and Mayfair cannot: scale, garden, and a school-run village pace. It is the postcode UHNW families pick when they want London proper — with the West End and the City both reachable in thirty minutes — without the noise.

For two weeks each summer, Wimbledon becomes the closest thing tennis has to a capital. The All England Lawn Tennis Club draws a global audience to a couple of hundred residential streets, and the calibre of the private homes around Centre Court is matched almost nowhere in the city.

Outside the fortnight, Wimbledon settles back into a quieter rhythm — long weekends on the Common, sport at the local clubs, pub lunches in the Village, and chauffeured runs into central London for theatre and dinner. Many of our guests come for the Championships and return for a school holiday or a Christmas stay.
